Pisp.co.uk competition: win a book!
Yep, that's right... we're giving away a book! This is just the start of things... we'll have some bigger prizes on the way soon enough! Nonetheless, a book is still a lot to get excited about.
The prize:
Up for grabs is Stephen Law's 'Philosophy Gym: 25 short adventures in thinking'.
What makes this set of philosophical exercises different from, and better than, other books of its kind is Law's inspired decision to adopt a variety of different styles. There are philosophical stories, thought experiments, illustrations, "thinking tools" designed to explain key ideas and, most interesting of all, is Law's use of dialogues. For instance in his chapter "Can a Machine Think" he relates an imaginary conversation between Kimberly Courahan and her state-of-the-art robot (Emit) in the year 2100.
'Law's book is an admirable introduction to a range of philosophical
paradoxes'

Terms
- We'll pick a winner at random.
- Closing date is the start of December. That seems a long way away, I know... but trust me it'll fly by.
- We'll try to send you the book as soon as possible, but there may be a little hold up depending on where you live--postage will cost more and we might not have the money in my account to cover it right away.
- Oh, did we mention it's open to people from all countries and to all ages?
- These rules are not above the laws of the United Kingdom--if there's anything in the law that says we can't open this contest to people outside of the UK then that law prevails. I don't think there is, just covering ourselves.
